 Boise State University

Boise State FootballBoise State University (BSU) is located in Idaho’s capital city.  Their football athletic program brought the nations focus to Boise after becoming the 3rd best team in the country in 2010 following three undefeated regular football seasons. BSU is also known for its famous blue turf, affectionately known as the “Smurf Turf”.

Boise State UniversityIn addition to athletics, BSU provides great programs for academics.  After leaving Brigham Young University-Idaho, I enrolled at BSU during the fall of 1996.  At the time, my focus was to continue my Bachelor’s in political science in preparation to study Law latter at the University of Idaho. I was a full-time student while also working full time to support my wife and me as newlyweds.

I got almost a year into the program when I began to question my true interests.  Although fully supportive of my pursuits, my wife pointed out to me that I should consider computers as a future.  Technology was always a natural passion and something I seemed to have an innate ability for.  Both her and my parents had recognized and pointed it out. After considering further, I decided to change the focus of my major to Computer Information Systems (CIS).  This was a big decision as it impacted my targeted graduation and required more classes within my newly chosen academic discipline.

I’ve never regretted the decision I made. The CIS program at BSU aligned under the business program and as a result I received a mixed education with a background in business and computer science.  My main area of focus under the computer science side was with computer programming. I graduated in the spring of 2001 with a Bachelors Degree of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems. The dually focused degree gave me a great business background that has enabled me my entire career to be able to integrate well and apply my talents in support of the various business areas I have supported.

Greatest of all, BSU is central to a community that is family oriented and centered on values.  It is a great place to raise a family and one of the reasons I still live here. It reminds me on a large scale of the small Idaho town I was raised in.  I’m proud to be able to provide the same community based values to my kids that I was provided by my parents.
